The West End smash-hit, Dirty Dancing explodes to Woking for three weeks from 30 April - 18 May with heart-pounding music, passionate romance and sensationally sexy dancing. Get ready to don those suspenders, fish nets and high heels as Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show time warps to Woking, celebrating its 40th anniversary, 24 - 29 June. Strictly Come Dancing finalist and Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer joins Eastenders’ Sam Attwater as squeaky clean sweethearts Brad and Janet who embark on an adventure they’ll never forget! Dance lovers are in for a treat as the highly acclaimed Sofia National Ballet performs three exquisite ballets Don Quixote, Giselle and Swan Lake, over three consecutive nights, 25 - 27 July. September brings the renowned Northern Ballet who will be performing their mischievous production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, 24 - 28 September as well as the classic story Ugly Duckling, a ballet especially for children on 27 September. The world’s leading performers of theatrical ice dance, The Imperial Ice Stars return with their spectacular production of Sleeping Beauty on Ice, 15 - 19 October and Glyndebourne embarks on its 20th annual visit to the New Victoria Theatre, with three exceptional operas from 29 October - 2 November, with a new production of Benjamin Britten’s masterpiece The Rape of Lucretia, Donizetti’s intoxicating comedy L’elisir d’amore and Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel.
We welcome an array of musicals as Andrew Lloyd Webber’s extraordinary record-breaking, smash-hit musical, Cats returns to Woking for two weeks from 9 - 20 July. Adapted from TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, this classic musical has an unforgettable score including the timeless Memory. Award-winning tribute show, Bohemian Rhapsody, celebrates all the hits of Freddie Mercury and Queen, 21 - 25 May and brand new musical Soul Sister comes direct from the West End, 28 June - 1 June. Inspired by the life and times of Ike and Tina Turner and full of heart and soul the show features all the classics including What’s Love Got to Do With It, Proud Mary, Private Dancer and of course Simply the Best.
For those who love some drama in their lives, Agatha Christie Theatre Company presents another thrilling production of the Queen of crime’s classic Go Back for Murder, 30 September - 5 October, an evening of intrigue and suspense is assured from 11 - 15 June as Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary sleuth comes to Woking prior to the West End in Sherlock Holmes: The Best Kept Secret; 15 - 20 April, brings the fast paced and thrilling Olivier and Tony award winning comedy The 39 Steps as four fearless actors play 139 roles in this blissfully funny show and classic TV comedy Rising Damp is brought to life on stage, 1 - 6 July.
If you are partial to a spot of nostalgia then look no further than these feel good shows. 23 - 27 April, brings the unique sound of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons with New Jersey Nights and Save the Last Dance for Me will take you back through the music and magic of the early 60s, 17 - 22 June. Clive John and The Spirit Band bring The Johnny Cash Roadshow, 4 September, presenting all of ‘The Man in Black’s’ top hits including Ring of Fire, Walk the Line and Boy Named Sue. Pink Floyd fans are in for a treat on 5 September as one of the UK’s top Tribute Bands UK Pink Floyd Experience play all the hits from the whole back catalogue; celebrating the 60th Anniversary of The Drifters, the current line up will be performing all the classics, 6 September, That’ll Be the Day returns with a brand new show featuring hits from 50s, 60s and 70s, 8 September and an all star line-up - Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Searchers, P.J. Proby, The Fortunes, Brian Poole and Chip Hawkes come together in Sixties Gold - 50th Anniversary Tour, 29 September.
Following a hit UK Tour last year, Douglas Adams’s immortal creation, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy explodes back to life in this ground-breaking new stage production. A radio show on stage like you never saw before, it’s packed with laughter, wild sound effects and drinks with extremely silly names, 27 October. Celebrity psychic, Sally Morgan returns with Psychic Sally on the Road, 2 September and the authority on all things bushcraft and survival, Ray Mears shares stories from over thirty years of surviving the wilderness and its colourful wildlife, 13 October.
There’ll be laughs aplenty as Sean Lock brings his unique opinions, gags and deft observations in his new show Purple Van Man, 2 June, Jimmy Carr’s current tour, Gagging Order, returns following two sell out performances last year, 23 June and everybody’s favourite northern comedian, Jason Manford brings his brand new tour to Woking on 3 September.
This year’s spectacular panto is the most magical fairytale of them all as Cinderella comes to the New Victoria Theatre stage from 6 December ’13 - 5 January ’14 with Cbeebies superstar Justin Fletcher as Buttons. With state-of-the-art staging, amazing special effects and a hit score Ghost the Musical comes to Woking for two weeks only from 11 - 23 November and Joey McKneely’s vibrant stage production of classic musical, West Side Story returns in February 2014.
