Responsible for:   Marketing & Communications Assistant

Purpose of role: The Marketing & Communications Officer supports the Marketing & Communications Manager with implementing effective marketing and communications campaigns, through liaison with the media and audiences, to establish the venue as the primary regional entertainment venue.  The marketing team is crucial to the success of ATG's future ambitious vision.

  • Costs - To help deliver targets using strong compelling and cost effective options to existing and potential customers
  • Culture - To build a modern forward thinking culture within the team and create a strong data culture across the venue and wider organisation that is able to move with pace and break with tradition
  • Customer To focus on ways to engage with customers through effective communications, use of insight and data mining techniques and market segmentation
  • Ambassador - Builds and protects key relationships with Producers, customers, external agencies, and internal colleagues

Responsibilities:

Marketing Communications

To support the Marketing Communications Manager; 

  • To maintain effective and regular contact with the media on behalf of theatre and to act as its spokesperson, where necessary, in order to maximise audience capacity and achieve marketing objectives
  • In using audience data analysis to evaluate campaigns and feed into future planning
  • To issue press releases, features, competitions, photo calls and photographs to the media to achieve the marketing objectives
  • To monitor the success of marketing and communication campaigns through supervision of press cuttings and film materials
  • To maintain the media archive for evaluation purposes
  • To set up, organise and attend first nights, photo calls, publicity stunts and interviews with the media in order to maintain positive external relationships
  • To establish a high corporate profile for the venue locally, nationally (where applicable) and in relevant arts publications
  • To produce copy, as and when required, for printed materials, newsletters, website, direct mail letters
  • To liaise with incoming companies to gather information/photographs/competition prizes for campaign
  • To liaise with programme publishers to ensure that all programmes are delivered on time and to undertake all proof-reading responsibilities
  • To maintain theatre on the website in order to maximise marketing and communication opportunities offered by new media
  • To ensure good communication coverage through use of traditional and online press and editorial and relevant social media







    General Marketing Activity
  • To undertake training and develop skills that will benefit the venue
  • To support with the proofing of all print materials that may be used to promote theatre or its events
  • To support the Marketing and Communications Manager with marketing campaign activity and delegated project work that may arise
  • To carry out any other delegated tasks that may reasonably be allocated by the Marketing & Communications Manager to support the venue to achieve its business objectives
  • All activity will be carried out as efficiently and effectively as possible within agreed resources.
  • To engage a significantly bigger audience through the creation and distribution of digital content

Person Specification

  • Experience of working in arts marketing
  • Previous social media and web experience preferred
  • Interest in a range of theatrical experiences
  • Highly developed verbal communication skills
