Oxford Philomusica

Oxford Philomusica Overview

Oxford Philomusica is Oxford’s professional symphony orchestra in residence at the University of Oxford (appointed in 2002). Since it was founded in 1998, it has become one of the UK’s leading orchestras. Founded and directed by Marios Papadopoulos, it has collaborated with a wide variety of prestigious musicians and has an impressive programme of concerts, frequently appearing at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford and holding FUNomusica Family Concerts and its Summer Baroque Season.

It has recently released its recording of the Handel / Mendelssohn Acis and Galatea, which was created in collaboration with the Christ Church Cathedral Choir. The Oxford Philomusica has also been appointed Orchestra in Association at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre and is rapidly developing a national and international profile with appearances in London and an international touring programme that sees them perform in France, Switzerland, Greece, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden.
