Michael Xavier Overview

Michael Xavier’s career had a flying start straight into the West End: he played a lead role in Pageant at the King’s Head Theatre, and the production transferred to the Vaudeville Theatre in 2000. In 2002 he went on a UK Tour with Cameron Mackintosh’s Miss Saigon and in 2003 appeared in lead roles in Sleeping Beauty in Newbury, The Mikado on its UK Tour, and as Freddy Eynsford-Hill in Trevor Nunn’s My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane. In 2004, he gained the part of Sky in Phyllida Lloyd’s Mamma Mia! on its international tour, and in 2006 played Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera in the West End’s Her Majesty’s Theatre.

In 2008 he went on a tour in the title role of Rock, and this same year played Sir Galahad in Spamalot at The Palace Theatre in the West End. 2009 saw him play heartthrob Curly in Oklahoma! at the Chichester Festival Theatre, and in 2010 he performed there again in Love Story. In 2010 he gained an Olivier Award Nomination for his performance as the Wolf and Cinderella’s Prince in Into the Woods (performed at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), and another one for his reprisal of the role of Oliver in Love Story, this time performed at the Duchess Theatre.

With intermittent radio, recording, workshops, event and commercial work in amongst these stage performances, he has more recently performed at the Soho Theatre in London, playing James Prince in Soho Cinders, and in regional theatres, with the part of Cornelius in Hello Dolly at the Leicester Curve Theatre until January 2013.
