Mark Umbers Overview

Mark Umbers English stage and screen actor.

His stage debut was portraying Frederic in Pirates of Penzance (1998) at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, and from there he went on to appear in a number of productions at the Royal National Theatre under Trevor Nunn, including Solanio in the Royal National Theatre’s production of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice and as Freddy in My Fair Lady (2001). In 2002 he worked with Michael Grandage at the Donmar Warehouse where he took on the role of Tom in Noel Coward’s scandalous comedy The Vortex.  He went on to feature in The Glass Menagerie (2007), Funny Girl (2008) and portrayed a number of roles in Sweet Charity (2010). In 2012 Mark joined the revival of Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along as Frank at the Menier Chocolate Factory, and later at the Harold Pinter Theatre.

Mark’s television credits include guest roles in Casualty (1998), Silent Witness (1998), The Bill (1999), Foyle’s War (2003), Midsomer Murders (2004, 2008), a starring role in television film Princes in the Tower (2005) and a recurring role in series two of Mistresses (2009). On the big screen Mark has featured in comedy Colour Me Kubrick (2004) and Woody Allen’s crime drama Cassandra’s Dream (2006).
