Lucy Kirkwood is a London-born playwright who studied English Literature at the University of Edinburgh and during her time there wrote for the Edinburgh University Theatre Company.
Her first play Grady Hot Potato (2005) was staged at the Bedlam Theatre in Edinburgh and was part of the National Student Drama Festival. Her second play Geronimo (2006) featured at the Edinburgh Fringe and her third Guns or Butter was part of the Terror 2007 Festival.
In 2008 she premiered Tinderbox at the Bush Theatre which starring Jamie Foreman and Sheridan Smith. Subsequent productions include Hedda (2008) at the Gate Theatre, It Felt Empty When the Heart Went at First but it is Alright Now (2008), and NSFW at the Royal Court Theatre in 2012, which received strong reviews.
