Lothar Koenigs Overview

Lothar Koenigs is a German conductor who studied piano and conducting at the Cologne Conservatory. Between 2000 and 2003 he has worked as the General Music Director at the Osnabrück Theatre. Freelance work since has included engagements at the Opéra National de Lyon of Wozzeck (2003), a Janáček cycle of Jenufa, Káťa Kabanová and The Makropulos Affair (2004), and Lohengrin (2006). Koenigs made his first conducting appearance in the US at the Metropolitan Opera in 2008, and made his Proms conducting debut in 2010.
