Lisa Davina Phillip Overview

Lisa Davina Phillip’s professional stage career started with a part in Disney’s The Lion King in the West End. After understudying Rafiki and Shenzi there, she went on in 2006 in understudy Lily Holmes in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess in Trevor Nunn’s revival. In 2008 she played Maenads in The National Theatre of Scotland’s The Bacchae, and Sandra in Shoot to Win, before moving on to play Pat in Robert Icke’s Catalysta. Between 2011 and 2012 she played Clara in the West End’s Ghost the Musical, understudying Oda Mae Brown.

Other work includes radio performances, narrating for the BBC Radio 4’s Open Book Alice Walker and Tony White Readings (2004), and playing Mrs Wilkes in A Kind of Home: James Baldwin in Paris, for BBC television. In 2008, she played Pearl McDonald in ITV’s show The Royal Today.
