Lenny Henry Overview

Lenny Henry is actor, comedian, writer and television presenter best known for his stand-up tours including Loud! (1994), Have You Seen This Man (2001) and Where You From? (2007). He made his theatre debut in the title role of the Northern Broadsides touring production of Shakespeare’s Othello (2009) which won him Best Newcomer at the Evening Standard’s Theatre Awards. He went on to tackle the role of Antipholus in the National Theatre’s production of The Comedy of Errors (2011).

Lenny’s screen career began with an appearance on talent show New Faces and later as a guest on shows such as Celebrity Squares and The Ronnie Corbett Show. On television Lenny is best known for starring in his long-running BBC sketch show The Lenny Henry Show (1984-2005), as Gareth in comedy Chef! (1993-1996) and in documentaries such as Lenny’s Big Amazon Adventure (1997) and Lenny’s Big Atlantic Adventure (2000).  Along with a slew of presenting credits Lenny has starred in television films including Alive and Kicking (1991) Bernard and the Genie (1991).
