Leah-Marian Jones Overview

Leah-Marian Jones is a Welsh singer who has graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music and London’s National Opera Studio. As a company principal at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, she sang over thirty roles during her 8 years there. These included Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Mercedes in Carmen, Annina in Der Rosenkavalier , and Flosshilde in Das Rheingold and Götterdämmerung. For the English National Opera, she has sung the title role in Carmen, Maddalena in Rigoletto, Orestes in La Belle Helene, Sonyetka in Lady Macbeth of Mtzensk, Rossweisse in Valkyrie and Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has worked extensively with Scottish Opera, the Welsh National Opera, and with Opera North.

Jones has appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and has performed in concerts at the Manchester International Festival and the Glastonbury Festival. She has also appeared in Berkely, San Francisco, and at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

Television appearances and recordings include hosting television series for Channel 4 Wales, performing as a soloist in the Bryn Terfel series for the same, working with BBC2 and recording Britten’s Paul Bunyan for Chandos. She was also a soloist in a televised performance of Karl Jenkins’ Mass for Peace - The Armed Man.
