KT Tunstall Overview

KT Tunstall is a Scottish singer-songwriter and guitarist whose music style varies from folk to pop. Throughout her twenties, she played in a variety of indie music bands, touring, performing and songwriting extensively. She gained UK-wide recognition and both commercial and critical success after her 2004 live performance of ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree’ on Later...with Jools Holland. This led to her re-releasing her debut album, Eye to the Telescope, which went from number 73 in the British charts to number 3 and was nominated for the 2005 Mercury Music Prize. Tunstall’s US breakthrough came when American Idol contestant Katherine McPhee used ‘Black Horse and the Cherry Tree’ for a Billboard themed week.
