Judi Dench is one of Britain's most renowned actresses, reaching prominence primarily through her stage work.

Making her professional debut with the Old Vic Company in 1957 she has performed in the RSC's adaptation of The Gifts of the Gorgon (1993), A Little Night Music with the National Theatre in 1996 for which she won and Olivier Award, and Richard Eyre's Amy's View, both in London and on Broadway (1997 and 1999).

Judi Dench Overview

Judi Dench is one of Britain's most renowned actresses, reaching prominence primarily through her stage work.

Making her professional debut with the Old Vic Company in 1957 she has performed in the RSC's adaptation of The Gifts of the Gorgon (1993), A Little Night Music with the National Theatre in 1996 for which she won and Olivier Award, and Richard Eyre's Amy's View, both in London and on Broadway (1997 and 1999).

In 2002, after a successful string of roles in feature films, Dench returned to the stage to perform in Howard Davies The Breath of Life at Haymarket Theatre Royal. She followed this performance with a return to the RSC to play The Countess in All's Well That End's Well (2004) in both Stratford and at The Gielgud . Judi went on to play Judith Bliss in Hay Fever (2006), directed by Sir Peter Hall, later going on to play Mistress Quickly in the RSC's adaptation of the Merry Wives of Windsor (2006) and Madame de Montreuil in the Donmar's production of Madame De Sade (2009).

Most recently Judi performed alongside Ben Whishaw in the World Premiere of John Logan's Peter and Alice (2013), which gained critical acclaim.
