Johnny Flynn

Actor, poet and songwriter Johnny Flynn fronts the band Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, an English folk rock band signed by Transgressive Records. He played opposite Mark Rylance in Jerusalem, Jez Butterworth’s hit play, and has subsequently appeared with him in the Globe Theatre’s 2012 production of Richard III (as Lady Anne), and has been cast as Viola/Cesario in its production of Twelfth Night, also starring Rylance.

Johnny Flynn Overview

Actor, poet and songwriter Johnny Flynn fronts the band Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, an English folk rock band signed by Transgressive Records. He has toured the world extensively and was chosen as one of Fricke's Picks in Rolling Stone magazine, in August, 2008. His song Kentucky Pill was the 30 March 'Hottest Record in the World' on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show.

Also known as Joe Flynn, he has worked as a member of the 'Propeller' theatre troupe. He has also made a number of stage appearances, including in Richard Bean's play The Heretic at the Royal Court Theatre (2011). He played opposite Mark Rylance in Jerusalem, Jez Butterworth’s hit play, and has subsequently appeared with him in the Globe Theatre’s 2012 production of Richard III (as Lady Anne), and has been cast as Viola/Cesario in its production of Twelfth Night, also starring Rylance.
