John Owen-Jones

John Owen-Jones Overview

John Owen-Jones is a Welsh stage actor best known for his leading roles in Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera.

He studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama and in 1998 he became the youngest person to take on the iconic role of Jean Valjean on a full time basis in the London production of Les Misérables having played a number of other roles in the show previously. In 2000 John appeared Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre productions of Much Ado about Nothing and The Pirates of Penzance. From 2001-2005 he starred as the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, appearing in over 1,200 performances. He reprised his role of Jean Valjean at the Queen’s Theatre in 2005 until 2007 before transferring to the Broadway production until the end of its run in 2008. In 2010 John embarked on the 25th Anniversary International touring production of Les Misérables (2009-2010), once again as Jean.

John has also appeared on a number of television shows including The Bill (2000), The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (2001), and Scott & Bailey (2013)
