Jason Howard Overview

Jason Howard is one of the UK’s leading performers on the international operatic stage. Known for his performances in the French and Italian repertoire, he is currently expanding into the German heroic repertoire. He has also made a great number of operatic recordings.

After a brief foray into the career of a fireman, he studied in London at Trinity and the Royal Colleges of Music. His operatic career kick-started with work with the Scottish Opera; he has subsequently sung with all the major UK opera companies and orchestras. Highlights include performances at the Royal Opera House and Paris Opera as Marcello in Puccini’s La Boheme, and his debut at Chicago Lyric Opera as Adam Brant in Mourning Becomes Electra. Recently, he has made his debut at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, and played Prospero in Thomas Ades’ The Tempest with the Welsh National Opera. In 2010 he returned to his heroic baritone repertoire, in Scarpia in Salzburg and as Iago in Otello in America. In 2011 he appeared at the Frankfurt Opera in Puccini’s Tosca.
