James Phillips is a writer and director. His first play The Rubenstein Kiss, which he also directed, premiered at Hampstead Theatre and went on to win the John Whiting Award and the TMA Award for Best New Play.
Other recent stage plays include City Story (St James), Time and the City (Slung Low), The White Whale (Slung Low/Opera North), The Little Fir Tree (Sheffield Crucible), Wind in the Willows (Latitude and Theatre 503).
TV includes If We Dead Awaken (Channel 4). His first feature film The Watching Tree is a being produced by Blonde to Black Pictures. His next play McQueen, about the designer Alexander McQueen, is due to open in 2014.
