Ian Rickson

Ian Rickson Overview

Ian Rickson is a British theatre director who studied English at Essex University. He was Artistic Director at the Royal Court Theatre from 1998 until 2006 where he oversaw a number of productions including Mojo (1995), The Weir (1998) for which he was nominated for an Olivier for best director, This Is a Chair (2002), Krapp’s Last Tape (2006) and The Seagull (2006).

Since 2006 Ian has been a successful freelance director with shows including Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler (2009) on Broadway, Jez Butterworth’s Jereusalem (2009), Betrayal (2011) and Shakespeare’s Hamlet (2011) starring Michael Sheen at the Young Vic.
