Ed Byrne is an Irish stand-up comedian, actor, and TV presenter.

Ed Byrne Overview

Ed Byrne is an Irish stand-up comedian, actor, and TV presenter.

Byrne has repeatedly performed stand-up at the Edinburgh Festival, with six sell-out shows and a 1998 nomination for the Perrier Comedy Award. He has performed on three sell-out UK tours and has had a number of hugely successful international tours to Canada, France, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. Other appearances include at the Newbury Comedy Festival and the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in Kilkenny. He has also recorded a number of DVDs of his stand-up performances.

Byrne has repeatedly appeared on television. One of his first appearances was on Cilla Black’s show Blind Date, and he has subsequently appeared four times on the Graham Norton Show alongside Will Young, Helen Mirren and Emily Blunt among others. Presenting work includes for Uncut! Best Unseen Ads and Just for Laughs, and he has appeared as a guest on Have I Got News For You and Saturday Kitchen, along with numerous other television shows. He has appeared numerous times on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and in 2007 he appeared on a comedians’ special edition of The Weakest Link.

Acting work includes an appearance on the television series Father Ted, while his film work spans from the 2000 comedy Rat to a starring part in Zemanovaload (2005). In 2010 he played Rob in the BBC television pilot Reunited, and he has also played the title character in ITV2’s adaptation of the pantomime Aladdin.

Byrne also writes a column for the hill walking magazine TGO where he tries a different outdoor activity each month in the company of an expert, and has a column in the Metro newspaper.
