Daniel Mays

Daniel Mays is a British stage and screen actor who attended Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts before studying at RADA.

His theatre credits include Blackrock (2001) at the Young Vic, Ladybird (2004), The Winterling (2006), and Scarborough (2008) at the Royal Court theatre and most recently  at the Donmar Warehouse in Moonlight (2011) and Trelawny of the Wells (2013).

Daniel Mays Overview

Daniel Mays is a British stage and screen actor who attended Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts before studying at RADA.

His theatre credits include Blackrock (2001) at the Young Vic, Ladybird (2004), The Winterling (2006), and Scarborough (2008) at the Royal Court theatre and most recently  at the Donmar Warehouse in Moonlight (2011) and Trelawny of the Wells (2013).

Early television experience was a brief stint EastEnders (2000) and on The Bill (2001). His role in BBC drama Rehab (2003) directed by Antonia Bird resulted in Daniel winning the Best Actor award at the Palmare-Reims TV festival in 2003 and a run of roles in film followed including Vera Drake (2004), Atonement (2007), football drama The Firm (2009), The Adventures of Tintin (2011) Made in Dagenham (2010) Welcome to the Punch (2013), Vampire thriller Byzantium (2012). Other notable television appearances include a recurring role in Ashes to Ashes (2010), Dr Livesey in Sky1s Treasure Island (2012) and as the great train robber Ronnie Briggs in drama Mrs Briggs (2012).
