Carlton Powell learned his love of music from a very early age. His parents were both musical, his Mother a singer in the gospel church choir, his Father a Guitarist. He was taught to play the Guitar by his father, later learning to play Piano.
Carlton started his professional career as a Musician/Singer working with many Pop and Soul acts as a Keyboard Player/Backing Singer on many tours around the world, working with such artistes as Edwin Starr, Alexander O Neal, Anastacia, James Brown, Usher, and Pop Acts such as Shayne Ward, and Another Level.
Whilst performing as a Musician he honed his vocal ability learned in the gospel choir. Carlton joined The Drifters in 2010 on the Fantasia Tour whilst understudying The Drifters vocally. In 2011, he toured for the first time with The Drifters replacing Maurice Cannon. He has a good tenor/baritone voice and is very popular with the Drifters fans. Carlton fronted the Sony release tour along with the other members of the line-up that received a gold disk in March 2012 for the success of the Up on the Roof.
