We live in a 140-character, twenty-four hour world where the stories we consume are fast, packaged and bite sized; but some stories aren’t meant to be told with headlines, theme tunes and logos.
Broken News plunges into the heart of a modern-day newsroom where an ambitious world is about to collide with the private lives of those at the heart of a ‘good news story’. In response to the ever-growing question mark over the morality of journalistic method, Squint’s epic new production studies how the media’s determination for the ‘perfect news story’ unearths those whose tales should remain below ground.
Squint’s trademark cocktail of original drama, live music and panoramic ensemble-driven storytelling will make Broken News a wholly fresh and resonant theatrical experience. Director Andrew Whyment and a team of emerging writers present a story that exposes the humanity of both those who make the news and those who are the news.
