Over the Rainbow, the tale of Eva Cassidy starring Sarah Jane Buckley (Hollyoaks) as Eva Cassidy, Pauline Flemming (Coronation Street & Brookside) as Barbara Cassidy and Rob Mcveigh (BBC's Any Dream Will Do finalist) as Danny Cassidy, is a compelling award-winning musical which tells the life story of this legendary artist, following Eva's life through dramatic scenes and stunning live renditions of her music including a haunting interpretation of Somewhere over the Rainbow.
This award-winning show has received plaudits from the Eva Cassidy Band and members of her family and contains projection and original footage from Eva Cassidy's life, from an early age to her first professional gig aged 18, her first meeting with her boyfriend and mentor Chris Biondo, a rabble-rousing rendition and recording at Blues Alley with Chuck Brown and culminating in her poignant and tragic death.
Before she died at the tender age of 33, she was unknown outside Washington, USA but within 2 years, she was discovered by Terry Wogan who promoted her music to the top of the album charts in the UK and now Europe, Australia and throughout the World.
A talented and world-class cast of actors and musicians recreate her original arrangements and recordings which have received accolades from Mick Fleetwood and Sting and tributes from Nora Jones, Katie Melua and Chris De Burgh.
This show pays a genuine and heartfelt tribute to a true artist who was not interested in fame and fortune, but wanted nothing more than to create beautiful music.
From its first performance in 2004, Over the Rainbow has moved people immensely with sell-out performances and standing ovations throughout the UK and Europe.
This is more than an absolute must-see for all Eva Cassidy fans, it's a show for anyone who's lost someone they love.
